My boy Sumit sat down with Shortee Blitz, DJ MK and Harry Love to chat about the state of djing in this country. There's some real talk here.
Big ups!
Check the Extended Players on The Funhouse Mon-Thurs from 9pm.
The latest edition of Tricky Business Radio is a featured mix on Mixcloud right now!
More about Mixcloud.
I've been playing about with Mixcloud over the last couple of days. Lots of people are tipping it as the future 'The Youtube of radio' - it definitely has great potential to revolutionise things for online DJs. As their press release mentions, the status quo of djs uploading mixes to zshare etc. isn't great at all, for lots of reasons. But this takes their basic functionality and adds a whole bunch of useful features. DJs can share their mixes along with their profile and information, listeners can "follow" the radio shows they like, and you can embed mixes onto other sites. Hopefully they'll also release the API at some point too, which will let third party developers make cool bits to stick onto it (think flickr widgets etc.)
You'll need an invite code for the moment, but you can sign up for an account here: Register for Mixcloud and enter the invitation code: djcodeblue.
Once you're on you can find me here: DJ Code Blue on Mixcloud.

I peeped this a couple days ago on my boy DJ Cable's Blog but didn't get a chance to blog about it yet.. Serato have just released the SL3 box, which connects the Serato program on your computer to the decks and mixer in a club/rig. The big thing is the extra set of inputs/outputs, which means the Serato 1.9 SP-6 sample player has its own output, plus the ability to switch between the control cd/record and regular cds/records without having the change the cables over. New features over the standard SL1 include:
I'm feeling the work of Deconomix. I'm hollering at them when I get my new house

Saw this on A Trak's Blog - this is some next level ish!
These days it sometimes seems that Djing is more about peddling guestlists and trying to add people to facebook groups than actually mixing and scratching records. Not that anyone's to blame, I guess that's just the way things are these days..
Anyway these are some of my favourite djs who can actually cut records up!
Saw Kid Capri in Miami last year.. he djed at this level and speed for about 4 hours!
